Barney Bashing ~ The Essay.
Before you ask, No I have not forgotten about this blog or my youtube channel. However, I will be examining and studying an old TV Show character straight from the 90s that was hated by millions ever since it's creation and that is Barney the Dinosaur. as well as WHY he is hated.
So what is Barney? Where did he come from? Why is he hated?
Woah there reader. Slow down.. I'll cut to the chase and give you some long answers.
Some people may not understand why barney is hated. Barney is a show for kids right? little kids? it seems completely harmless... So why the hate?
Well, if you watch one episode or see the movie for yourself. You may understand that he looks kinda creepy. From the voice to the endless stare to the fact that he's always so.. happy? like he's viewing the world through a one-dimensional view. It's even the "i love you" song that is creepy (which is just sang to the tune of This Old Man. Surprising enough?). I can see why a lot of people hated him even in the 90s and it's still being passed down for generations.
From a literal barney destruction festival to nonexistent computer viruses named after this individual; usually titled a "Barney Error". This is the theory of why Barney is hated so much.
Barney was a dinosaur created by a mother who thought there was literally nothing good on television. It has arrived in the form of Barney and the Backyard Gang. In 1991 the 4-year-old daughter of an executive at the evil Connecticut Public Broadcasting had saw an episode of Barney on a rented videotape which was enough to get a show on PBS. Surprisingly enough it aired on spring of 1992. This was when the barney bashing had begun. as well as a few incidents
In one incident one of the cooling fans in the barney suit had shorted out and the guy in the suit started to smell smoke. The actor suffered from smoke inhalation.
And then there was the time barney books went out to the public with a picture of a bare-breasted woman leaning over to a man (Barney's Lust) and the mother was disturbed to learn the sons had spotted this in a book of Barney's Sing Along Songs. As it turns out the chinese printer used scrap paper left over from an old job for an astrology romance guide bound for norway.
Then there was the other time when the guys dubbed over the barneys singalong audio with swearing. Lyrick Executives had later on siezed the master tape and restored barney's voice. This jokester has since got away with it like the max headroom tv incident.
However, I've had to split the theory into a few parts. I hope this is enough to hold you over..
